Divided we Fail.

United we stand and divided we fall, is probably one of the first few proverbs from panchatantra moral stories that we all have heard in our childhood times. Well few days back my friend wrote an article Regionalism- How costly is it to nation? She also said she is writing about it very reluctantly. I am even more hesitant while writing this one, but every time I watch Hindi news I am compelled to pen few lines about this as there is one or the other news regarding the issue and separatist attitude which probably is dragging our nation towards separation.

Backgorund

Well let me make it clear, I neither belong to Maharashtra nor to Bihar. And Yeah I don’t even belong to U.P. I am writing this blog article only in the interest of national and social integrity.

Well I wonder why some people doesn’t believe in unity? I heard a leader in Maharashtra opposing celebration of some chat pooja, which is mostly observed by north Indians and more specifically by people in Bihar. Which is a latest story. I understand, this brushing of words have been happening between leaders of Maharashtra and Bihar and maharashtra and U.P, the topic being, leader in Maharashtra doesn’t personally like other state people, especially people from Bihar and U.P. going into Mumbai.

That is not it, I have heard from very close set of friend circle, that they being very well educated, were trying to drive a riots against offering employment for people around the nation in Karnataka. The reason being for this is, they claim, when people in Karnataka are deprived of employment opportunities people from other states cannot be offered jobs in Karnataka it seems. I really feel sorry for this kind of naive regionalism and feel extreamly disgusted to know people doesn’t have broader outlook.

I understand many cities and towns or probably to be more specific Mumabi, Bangalore or any metro or cosmopolitan city in India provide shelter to millions of people who belong to different, states, class, language, religion, cast, cults, sub casts etc. I wonder what might surge, if all of these people indulge themselves in the kind of activity which provoke and instigate people against other language, religion, and sects. We claim to be secular sovereign democratic republic, as explained in the constitution of India which assures security, equality and liberty. Security and liberty are however largely disputable, liberty and freedom given by the constitution is widely being misused to ruin, social harmony by separatist attitude and it isn’t very surprising that they get bitter and cling to weapons or religion and it definitely is a threat to national security.

Why does after all people migrate from one place to another leaving their hometown, family and friends? In search and desire of lively hood and better life for themselves and their children. Person migrating from Bihar or from U.P. to Mumbai or Bangalore wants a better income, better lifestyle and better education for himself and his children. Isn’t their desire justified? The fact is only cities like Mumbai or Bangalore or few more like that have a better job opportunities, it isn’t his fault. If you work towards they getting better employment opportunity in their home town, they wouldn’t probably bother leaving their folks behind? Why doesn’t anybody work towards that? doesn’t matter even if its for the sake of selfish motive of avoiding people into you town, it definitely serve in the interest of nation’s betterment.

Why?

Well Though I am not able to see and understand any clear reasoning behind it, it is somewhat like Mumbai is getting spoiled by these people and he feels extreamly protective about his home town. But I personally feel very strongly that this patriotism needs to be extended towards the borders of the nation instead of restraining them to the borders of our home towns. There is nothing bad, in fact it is matter of healthy development that people are being proud and protective about their origin, but instead of making use of it to produce tension in the society it could be made use of, to build harmonious and unified society and hence a nation and it could probably be displayed globally rather than using “Brahmastra over a sparrow“.

Point today is

History is evidence to the fact that relocating to different places in search and hope of lively hood isn’t a new thing to mankind. Secular Indian country is a huge example for the same. Probably a little tolerance towards immigrants from natives of all regions can really benefit the society greatly indeed.

These words from constitution of India I thought might be relevant and inspiring for the crisis being faced.

We having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a Sovereign
Socialist, Secular Democratic republic and to secure to all its citizens:

JUSTICE, social, economic and political;

LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;

EQUALITY of status and of opportunity;

and to promote among them all

FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual and the unity and integrity of the Nation;

IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this twenty-sixth day of November, 1949, do HEREBY
ADOPT, ENACT AND GIVE TO OURSELVES THIS CONSTITUTION.

Father’s Day

They say, Man begin to realize when he is growing old, because he begins looking like his father. I feel that its quite true. But I felt something other way round. Few years back, while we were at my father’s maternal aunt’s house, I happened to talk to her. My father who had lost his father at the very age of three, had grown up with his mother and more of with his mother’s sister. Maternal aunt of my father started talking about my father and said he was a very brilliant boy and used to play cricket as well. Then she started telling me about his achievements, like all proud mothers. Like he stood first in all his annual exams and he scored excellent marks in so many exams. Then he played cricket , and his friends wouldn’t leave him and always dragged him to bat.

Finally she said he won gold meddle for his LLM in international law and he was selected to be a magistrate. She said because he had to go for some function that was organized and journalists were coming to take his picture to publish about the gold medalist on that very day and he didn’t have a blazer to wear, she said he was ready to go without one, but she borrowed it from a neighbor( It was quite customary to wear black blazer for a new magistrate or a magistrate matter of fact). Then I asked Do u have that picture? She said of course I do, I have paper cuttings. Then she got her bag from inside the locker( thats where she has kept those paper cuttings). She showed me all the paper cuttings one after the other including the poems that were published along with his pictures for one or two poems. I said oh this is my brother:-). I am not exaggerating a little bit, but my dad probably would have been of age of early twenties or mid twenties,. I was in late teens and my brother was in early twenties. I experienced tremendous pleasure inside me and cant tell the exact reason for that. So I would rather say, look at your father’s pictures of those times when he was of your brother’s age, they look almost same!

Today on father’s day, I really cherish those moments, which I spent with my dad as a little one. I sometimes got irritated, some times got bored some times got scared, sometimes got mad for all that he said. But now, when I am completely on my own, I realize how Lucky, how fortunate of all I was and I am to have father like that, whenever I come across something unpleasant or decision making cross roads, its really his words that I remember most.

Father’s Day: Though Father’s day celebration is held on variety of days throughout the world, it is most commanly celebrated on third Sunday of month of June and it was said to have come into existence by a girl called Sonora Smart, while she was listening to mothers day celebration in early 1900. She was raised by her father after she had lost her mom in early age and wanted to tell her father about his importance to her.

How ever even prior t that about three to four thousand years ago a young boy Called Elm usu is said to have first wished his Babylonian father good health and a long life by carving a Father’s Day message on a card kind of stuff made out of clay. No one have heard of Elmesu or his father ever since , but the tradition of having a father’s day honoring fathers has continued through the ages across the world.

Though I don’t approve of this much and I think every day is father’s day and every day mother’s day, I cannot reject it entirely as well as it is definitely a very sugary gesture.

Someone nicely has said ” any man can become father, but it takes special person to be a daddy”. I agree with that.

I came across this poem by unknown author.

What Makes A Dad

God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle’s flight,
The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it … Daddy

Democracy is an ancient concept at least as far as Indian history is concerned dating back to the time possibly as old as Mahabharata. Though the Entire Indian subcontinent is said to have ruled by regional kings from the time of Ramayana, There is one state called Klinga Kingdom in today’s Indian territory whose history goes back to days as old as Mahabharata at least was said to have ruled by different officers!

Democracy

In General when we refer to democracy the definition goes as ” Its the government by the people, of the people and for the people. Conventional knowledge states that Democratic ideals made it into social and political systems of the world only in late 18th century. Democracy is all about measuring the will of the majority of the public to construe the political authority and Majority rule is coupled with assurance of individual human rights to protect the rights of minority irrespective of ethnicity, religion or race irrespective of majority vote.

Oldest Democracy

On the contrary to above mentioned conventional knowledge, Ideals of democracy made into political systems long before 18th century. although the claim is said to have made that ancient Greeks are the first one to have democracy in the history of earth it can outrightly be overruled as Kalinga Kingdom which is central eastern state of India and existed from the time of Mahabharata that is around 4000 BCE was said to have been republic state since then. Reference of Kalinga state is made several number of times in Mahabharata where it states that different regions within the territory of Kalinga which constitutes of current day Orissa state and northern part of Andhra Pradesh and some parts of Bihar, west Bengal and Bangladesh, was ruled by different officers or different Kings who shared common army.

However while Ancients Greek democratic innovation and application is widely announced around the time of 200BCE it is clear that only a sect of men were allowed to vote. Women, slaves, metrics were not allowed to vote on the contrary to definition of Democracy. Unlike this in the latest reported state of Kalinga around 320 BCE was a feudal republic state, which king Bindusara tried to acquire and had repulsed.

Thats right Kalinga war though turned Emperor Ashoka into a devotee of non violence before that it was a war on Democracy and the early part of Ashoka’s rule was blood thirsty. The Kalinga war war was fought between Mauryan emperor Ashoka the great and the feudal republic state Kalinga Kingdom.

Little Background on Kalinga Kingdom and Mauryan Empire:

Kalinga was a state of sovereignty and democracy, with its monarchical-parliamentary democracy. which was not only unusual but also very unique in the territories of ancient India and there was a practice followed called “Raj Dharma”, the duty of the rulers, which means concept of bravery and “Kshatriya dharma.” The Kalinga Kingdom apart from being a state of Democratic ideals, is said to have had formidable maritime Empire with international trading routes to Vietnam, Borneo, Java, Sumatra, Thailand, Burma Sri Lanka and more. In current time Indians are said to have recognized as Kalingas in Malaysia because of the Kalingan trade relationship with that country Malaysia of those glorious days. Number of Srilankan Kings of both the ethnicitis, Sinhalese and Tamil claim to have decented from Kalinga Dynasties.

While Kalingas prided itself on its Magadhan Emperor, Ashoka was a succeeder to father Bindusar’s throne who inturn was succeeder of after Chandragupta Mourya who had built a Magadh Empire extending up to Gandhar in North West, forcing and driving out Greek armies backward. The immediate and ambitious agenda of Ashok’s after ascending onto throne was to strengthen Magadh further by carrying forward his grand father and father’s legacy. His first military venture was to bring down the independent status of prosperous Kalinga and destroy its flourishing maritime trade supremacy in order to achieve and augment Magadhan access in to the overseas commercial advantage.

Kalinga war- War on Democracy

Ashoka was said to have sent a Royal message to Kalinga’s royalty to submit before his supremacy. Upon hearing the denial to this diktat, Ashoka was said to have sent one of his generals to Kalinga to make them understand and agree to surrender to avoid Mayhem.

The general and his forces were, nevertheless were said to have completely routed through the skilled tactics of Kalinga’s commander-in-chief. Ashoka, baffled by this defeat, was said to have attacked with the greatest invasion ever recorded in Indian history until then. Kalinga put up a stiff resistance, being no matchto Ashoka’s powerful armies, superior weapons and experienced generals and soldiers, they are remembered only as brave warriors. and the whole of Kalinga was plundered and was immersed in the blood.

Ashoka the Great is said to have melted and said to have taken refuge in Buddhism, then toddler religion of India, after witnessing the aftermath of the war with hundreds of thousands of corpses of men women and children.

Point Today:

However as always, In the Indian history only the greatness of Emperor Ashoka and his latter refuge in Buddhism to spread the religion and the peace was accounted. The fact that the Indian state was a sovereign democratic state was neglected and almost forgotten. It is widely believed that Republic of India is a largest democracy of the world with its government pattern influenced by British Parliamentary. Very few of us know that, the concept of Democracy was no doubt was planted by British Ideas, but the concept was neither new nor was unheard of for Native Indians. It was in practice long before the concept was even heard in European premises.

Note: Coming up with more invisible stuffs to make them visible:

Mommy

Few years ago, My Sanskrit teacher told me a tale of Pundit(scholar) and a Tenali Rama. . Once a Pundith(scholar) walks into the court of King ‘Krishna Devaraya‘. scholar could talk in 13 languages so fluently that no one could recognize which was his mother tongue. That was Pundit’s(scholar’s) challenge too in the court. He challenged no one could ever find out his mother tongue. Worried Krishna Devaraya asks for help from Tenali rama. Tenali Rama told Krishna Devaraya to rest peacefully. Next day as soon as scholar came into the court, Tenali rama starts thrashing that Pundit( scholar) with a huge bamboo stick, pundith gets panic and out of pain starts screaming ‘Amma garu‘ ‘Ammagaru‘. Thats it, Tenali rama says pundit’s mother tongue is Telgu( one of the South Indian lanuage). He so determined this fact that, every one calls out for their mother when they land in trouble and thats the reason he plotted this act. My grand father even when he was in his 80’s called out for his mom probably zillion times when he used to fall sick with cold or cough.

When ever I talk to anybody about their moms, they undoubtedly get to foods. Thing that most of the people miss most about their moms is food cooked by her. Hmm thats really selfish. Though my mom didn’t cook very often a most splendid meals, whenever she cooked it was really yummy.Mommies are really lovable, adorable, huggable and at times very very irritating and scoldable. However for all that she has done, I don’t approve very much of this international mother’s day and cannot really un approve it too. I some times wonder why does children have to go live separately in the first place? and if at all for job sake they are living separate is it required to remember mom on one single day? Still i feel at least everyone is taking one day to let their mothers know that they love her :-). And moreover I feel though we all felt the same way about our moms, we would tell that to her on that particular day when everybody else is doing it.

There is a proverb which says ” there is no food tastier than salt” and there is no closer kin than mom.”

Meaning, though U have best of the food ready, without salt in it its tasteless and Though u have many kiths and kins no one is as as real as mother.

Someone beautifully said once, All women become like their mothers. That is their tragedy. No man does. That’s his! And the negative part of it is, often mother is made responsible for all her children’s actions, and sometimes children themselves blame their mothers for not having given them good enough upbringing. what they fail to understand is, after all mother is also a human being. So probably mother’s day is one beautiful opportunity to amend all mistakes and extend caring and loving hand towards your mother.

Happy mother’s day Mommy :-).

Mothers Day History: Though there is no genuine record maintained, from what I see, it goes back ages and according to most sources looks to have started as Mother’s day festival in honor of Mary, Jesus Christ’s mother. And then looks to have spread has mother’s day in the honor of all mother’s. Another source in the same Greek history talks of mother’s day celebration that started as honoring festival of goddess Rhea said to be the mother of many deities in the Greek mythology. This festival looks to have turned as social event in early 1600 in England as mothering Sunday. Though many countries still have their own celebration dates, it is most commonly celebrated on second Sunday in the month of May every year.

Etymology:

How we call mother in different langualges really facinated me. Some examples of different languages around the world. Most of then have one letter common that “M”. Is that a mere coincidence?

revering mother:

Matru Devobhava– Venerate mother as god

Pitru devo bhava– venerate father as god

Acharya devo bhava–Venerate teacher as god

Atithi Devo bhava– venerate guest as the god.

Though its not possible to explain the idolized places of mom in words let me try with an example.

In Native Indian community there is a system of assuming celibacy by forsaking world ly pleasure to acquire divine blessings for the sake common man. We call them ‘Swamiji’. Once he forsakes his life of worldly pleasures ( Grahasthashram) and takes up the life of saint (sanyasashram) he is assumed to have achieved higher position. Once he has turned saint upon encountering everybody needs to bow down and convey respects( Namaskar) to him including his father. Only person whom he can convey respects by bowing down(Namaskar) after god is his mother! That says it all.

When I started writing this blog article it was only about ‘Ram Navmi’, The birth day of ‘Rama’ Ideal most character in the history of Bhatar varsha, The Indian subcontinent. Not only in the history and literature of Indian sub continent but also in the history of mankind, no other historical character has been narrated with so much devotion and dignity by so many authors across the globe. However different articles published on related topics on different newspapers made me deviate the direction of my article towards the ‘Ram sethu’ built by Ram and authenticity of his very existence and thus over the authenticity of entire native Indian civilization.

Historicity:

Myth of Aryan invasion theory:

Its been quite some time since the imaginary Aryan invasion theory has been proved wrong and its been proved that native Indians are Aryans, by disapproving forign invasion in Indus -Saraswati civilization. The existence of ‘Sarasvati’ river has been proved, which of course ASI thought did not exist initially. High resolution satellite images show the relics of the decent of holy water of the river from its source in the mountains of Himalayas all the way into the Arabian sea, as exactly per the description of Rigveda. Mighty Saraswati river and its civilization are referred to in the rigveda number of times and its been proved archaeologically the dwindling and drying up of saraswati river was in the year 1900 BCE and thus proving the drying up of saraswati river subsequent to the origin of rigveda and pushing the date of its origin to antiquity proving the existance of vedas and further disapproving the purely imaginary racist aryan invasion theory. So the existence of mighty Saraswati river and the cultural continuity in the vicinity for Melania are factual and not mythical as widely propagated.

Its also been almost two decades since the existence of entirely submerged port city ‘Dwaraka’ of ‘ Lord Krishna in the north western state of India ‘Gujrat’, as mentioned in Vedic scriptures and Mahabharata has been found which further solidifies the the authenticity of existence of ‘lord Krishna and civilization to the age as old as 4000 BCE at least as per the description in mahabharata and by the verification of the relics of city of ‘Dwaraka’ archaeologically. ‘Dwara’ or ‘Dwaraka’ means gate or gateway, thus being self descriptive the city of Dwaraka was port city and capital city of yadavas who ruled ‘Anarta kingdom’. The capital was said to be shifted from ‘Mathura’ to ‘ Dwaraka’, after Krishna killed the monster Kamsa, for the safety of citizens of the kingdom as monster ‘Jarasandha’ the father in law of “kamsa’ was said to have attacked ‘Mathura’ several times. According to the ancient historical revelations the city of Dwaraka was built by reclaiming twelve yojana’s of land from the sea by lord Krishna and the actual construction was carried out by divine architect ‘Viswakarma’. The following shloka of ‘Mahabharata’ describes the disappearance of the city by ocean.

Niryate tu jane tasmin –After People have vacated

sagaro makaralayaha — Water occupied the land

dwarakan ratna -sampurnan– Still the city of Dwaraka full of affluence

jalenaplavayattada.–Got drowned by water.

This incident of lowering and raising of the sea level has been said to have documented by the historical documents of Bahrain exactly at same time period.

Proving the authenticity of history of ‘Rama’:

History of India, Bharat- Varsh, the Indian sub continent goes back to the days as old as 175000 years ago from now according to native inhabitants of Bharat varsha which of course is debated. However the vast land from Afghanistan of today till Bangladesh were all part of ancient Indian subcontinents.

Even going further beyond, ‘Akhanda Bharata’, meaning ‘Undivided India’ was having lot more land geographically before Islamic invasion into India.

Recently An effort was made by a self motivated person to find the birth date of ‘Rama’. The software called ‘Planetarium gold software‘ was used to find the exact date of ‘Ramayana’, by entering the exact zodiac constellations as described by ‘Maharshi Valmiki’ in ‘Ramayana, while describing the birth of ‘Rama’. As per Indian calender calculations, birthday of ‘Rama’ is on ninth day of Shukla paksha of ‘Chaitra’ Masa and time said to be noon. Thats the date when native Indian community has been celebrating birthday of Rama as “ram navmi’ from the time antiquity. As far as human memory goes back, no country, tradition, tribe, sect or cast on earth has ever celebrated a birthday of any fictitious character for ages and not even once. The Zodiac constellations of the day when ram was born was gloriously described by Seer ‘Valmiki’ . The glorious day was constituted with the zodiac constellation as,

(1) Sun in Aries= surya in mesha, (2)Saturn in Libra= shani in simha, (3)Guru in Karka=Jupiter in cancer, (4) Venus in Pisces= Budha in meena, (5) Mars in capricorn= Mangala in Makara, (6) Lunar month of Chaitra (7) nineth day after no moon (8) Lagna as cancer (cancer was rising in the east, (9) Moon on Punarvasu = Gemini constellation & Pollux star) x) Day time (around noon).

The result yielded was January 10, 5114 BC. HE claims to have purchased some planetarium software and claims the birth date to be accurate. There are thousands of planetarium softwares and some of them are down loadable for free online. So dates determined by this software is quite debatable as it does not match with original date thats been documented in the biography of Rama according to Yuga concept. However I appreciate the attempt and if at all the date is true, I am more than positive to withdraw my statements. As of now I am moving further with discussion, with the assumption, the date revealed by software as inaccurate.

Proving authenticity of history of Rama’

The glorious explanation of birth of Rama was explained in Balakanda of Valmiki Ramayana by following Shloka.

tato yaj~ne samaapte tu R^itUnaam SaT samatyayuH | -then, ritual, on completion; seasons, six, well, passed by
tataH ca dvaadashe maase chaitre naavamike tithau || 1-18-8 —-then; in twelfth, month; chaitra month;ninth, day

Which can be summarized as:

On completion of the ritual six seasons have passed by and then in the twelfth month, on the ninth day of chaitra month [April-May,] when the presiding deity of ruling star of the day is Aditi, where the ruling star of day is punarvasu, the asterism is in the ascendant, and when five of the nine planets viz., Sun, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, and Venus are at their highest position, when Jupiter with Moon is ascendant in Cancer, and when day is advancing, then Queen Kausalya gave birth to a son with all the divine attributes like lotus-red eyes, lengthy arms, roseate lips, voice like drumbeat, and who took birth to delight the Ikshwaku dynasty, who is adored by all the worlds, and who is the greatly blessed epitome of Vishnu, namely Rama.

Theory of co incidents?

Certain and intact is the fact that Mr Valmiki did exist and he did compose all the ramayana in the form of Shloka upon request from Brahma, in the same vedic meter in which he is said to have formed not only his in fact first ever shloka in history of mankind in a language called Sanskrit, which is called Devanagari lipi’ in native Indian community. The question is , Whether someone who had never ever lied in his entire life like Mahirshi Valmiki whose existence of course no body denies would really narrate such a huge saga of lies? Where he explains about the date, planetary positions, stars, zodiac constellations (Kundali), of course according to native Indian calender. Then Mahirshi Valmiki mentions about Sixty three ancestors of Rama, i,e of Ikshwaku dynasty, place of birth Ayodhya, father’s name Dashratha, mother’s name Kaushalya, then wife’s name Sita , age at which and the means by which he got married, his father in law’s name Janaka , mother in law,s name, his step mom,s name Kaikai, Sumitra , sibling,s name Laxman, Bharat, Shatrighna, name of the guy who abducted his wife, Ravan , Name of wife of the guy who abducted his wife Madodari, Place to which that guy belonged ( srilanka Island), name of the place where the guy kept his wife as say prisoner Ashok vatika, route through which they made it to that island (Ramsethu) and the way he constructed it and it does exist. His children, and the list goes on. Can really there be so many co incidents? All the places mentioned above does exist, and so does the bridge and it connects exactly those two parts of land which is explained in historical book Ramayana coincidentally? carbon-dating by NASA proves the bridge is 1.7 million years old. And the same coincidental story is written by many authors like Tulsidas and Kalidada about the same character Rama ? Did we invent the vast and deep language called Sanskrit to write merely a imaginary fairy tale? Which is practically impossible, so if the language did exist it was in use and it was used by people and people did exist. Name of sixty ancestors of any dynasty couldn’t have been possibly written in exactly same manner by more than one author or a poet. Everything that was ever narrated does exist, if at all anything doesn’t exist, its the birth certificate has not been obtained by bribing someone in government office. We are sorry, Such system did not exist in “Ram Rajya’ of Raghuvanshi Rama.

The Fun Part: The fun part is, people who claim not have belief in Rama and Ramayana as a history, wake up when it comes to about criticizing Rama for having sent his wife away from his life and kingdom into forest and for not having trust over his wife. Rama being the ideal king did send his wife away because he wanted to keep his subjects happy and not because he did not trust his wife. He might have also sent her away to keep her away from people’s gossips :-). Even if he did send her all by his own will whats the big deal? History does quote ‘Rama’ as a King with divine qualities and not god himself. This is evident enough to show that “Ramayana’ was not a boy meets girl fairy and upon returning from exile and it does not end with the quote they lived happily ever after.

Documentary of Ramayana also goes further when he meets his children ‘Lava and Kusha‘ he doesn’t recognize them. Why in the world would multiple authors write fiction about ‘Rama’ having sent his pregnant wife to ‘Aranya’ and having twin babies. and their name exactly as ‘lava and Kusha’? Besides Valmiki himself describes in this biography that he himself was a guardian to Rama’s wife Sita and children Lava and Kusha.

Morality:Documentary talks about Rama and his great qualities and also weak moments and talks about Ravana, the great scholar and his mistake. That describing Rama as human being concomitant short comings and encounterer of moral dilemmas who adhere to righteousness and not a supernatural being which makes “Ramayana” historical documentary and not a story of hero and villain. Ramayana illustrates personality traits of Rama as a warrior, as a king and as a husband at certain junctures and still exemplify an ideal man. Native Indian community believes, He did commit such mistakes for the sake of reinforcing basic moral qualities so that we learn from that instead of learning by our own mistakes for its well said by our ancestors, that he who learns from others mistakes is wise and he who learns from his own mistakes is a fool.

Relics of Ravana in Lanka across the sea:

  • The Sri Lankan govt claims to have found enough evidence to prove the existence of Ramayana.
Ram Setu a massive and mazing sea route being one of them. It connects Island of manner of north western Srilanka and Island of Rameshwaram as exactly described in Ramayana. And the sanctity place’ Rameshwaram holds. Lord Rama is said to have performed Pooja of lord Shiva after killing Ravana , to free himself from “Brahma Hatya dosha”( Sin of killing Brahman).
  • The bridge said to have built with stones or small rocks by making them float in water. And till date floating stones are present. Native Indian historical books say that the stones were made to float by carving name of ‘Sri Ram’ on that. Obviously the science used is not revealed and is unknown to modern technological world. Or they may be coral rocks, which of course float in water. Or water has been made denser than the rock.( Note: we cannot simply deny on something we don’t know. We just don’t know how they are made to float. We are yet to figure out).
  • Over the time, sea is submerged and, its is known to modern science also that the water lever has come up over Melania.
  • The Sri Lankan Govt said to have claimed to found the Ravana’s Mansion.
  • Ashoka Vatika, Which was said to be a garden made of all sort of most beautiful flowers and trees has beendiscovered and it is called Sita Ella in local language.
  • Ravana’s Palace which is said to be thousands of years old has been recovered.
  • The Five Airfields for ‘Pushpak’, Ravans flying machine are said to have found which is said to have resembled helipads of modern world.
  • The actual explaination in Ramayana for describing the take-off of Pushpaka is “उत्पपात” which literally means “shot up”. So ‘Pushpaka’ was said to be the vertical take of kind of air craft.
  • A multi route tunnel or sub way is said to have existed in the area that was used by Ravan & his accomplices. Such tunnels do exist and the relics of factories of aircrafts manufacturing and repairing are said to have found. The whole ancient structural remains indicates that Ravan was a great scientist & an engineer of his time in addition to being a warrior as explained in Ramayana.
  • The mountain by the name of ‘Sapru’ which grows Sanjivni Herb, was said to have transported by air by Hanuman from Himalayas, which was left in Lanks, is still there without any vicinity of mountainous terrain. The herbs have been regularly growing since then and used by local people. After having used herbs for their treatment purpose & after getting healed up they do visit Hanuman’s statue to convey offerings and gratitude. Search still said to be on by the scientists for the Sanjivni.
  • Srilankan sources lately said to have reported the incident of recovering dead body of “ravana’ by a seventy year old treasure hunter in the cave.
  • Srilankan government said to have been paying pension to Ravana’s descendants.

I am going to the extent of digging up the relics for Ravana to justify the existence of Rama, Such a cliche.

Other Foreign references:

  • In a Thailand there said be a place called Ayodhya and king of that place is said to be ‘Ram’.( information originally published in a column in rediff)
  • Indonesia is said to have taken the reference of Ramayana as a proof about a certain island belonging to their territory while obtaining freedom from Dutch. Vanar sena is said to have searched for sita in sumatra and surrounding islands for ‘Sita’ before going to Lanka.

Native Referances: Other than, all the proof available like, Aydhya the birth place of Rama, Ram navmi his birthday, Rama’s folks, his exile, his marriage, abduction of his wife and rescue saga, abductor of his wife, place to which abductor belonged belonged, how he traveled,….. etc etc, we have

  • Small town in Rajashtan in India called “Mandor” which was said to have been capital city of old Jodhpur state, to which Ravan’s wife Mondodari belonged her father being king Mayasura the architect of today’s Tripura and mother being Hema. People of this town Still pay their condolence to their Son- In-Law Ravan On the day of Dashahara and pay shrads ( the homage to dead kins) and don’t burn effigies contradictory to entire Indian common code for the festival Dashahara. Many descendants of Ravana are said to have migrated to this place after the death of Ravana.

Modern historical references of Ram sethu:

  • The bridge was first mentioned in historical works in the 11th century, mentioned by Alberuni Ibn Khodadbeh in his Book of Roads and Kingdom in 850 AD andhe called it Set Bandhai or “Bridge of the Sea”

  • Maps prepared by Netherland cartographer in 1747, available at Tanjore Saraswati mahal library shows this area as Ramancoil, a colloquial form of the Tamil Raman Kovil I.e. Rama’s Temple.
  • Another map of Mogul India prepared by J.Rennel in 1788 retrieved from the same library called this area as the area of the Rama Temple.
  • Many other maps in Schwartzberg’s historical atlas and other sources call this area with various names like Koti, Sethubandha, Sethubandha Rameswaram etc.
  • Valmiki Ramayan called the bridge built by Lord Rama as Setu Bandhanam in Shloka 2-22-76.
  • The earliest map that calls this area as Adam’s bridge was prepared by British cartographer in 1804.

Ancient historical references of Ram and Ramayana.

As per ancient Indian chronology Ramayana belongs to ‘Trata yuga’ a great age. Other than Ramayana, the references of Ramayana are said to have appeared in other ancient literatures like ‘Vayu Purana, Harivash, Garuda purana, Mahabharata, Brahmad purana etc.

Variant versions of Ramayana:

In India Valmiki Ramayana written by Valmiki in Sanskit being the oldest, We have Kamban Ramayana written by Kamban around 12 century CE in tamil, Ramacharit Manas by Tulsidas in 16th century which is also called Tulsi Ramayana, Ramayana by Gujrati poet Premanad, Krittivas Ramayana in Bengoli by poet Krittivas in 14th century, Balramdasa Ramayana in orissa by Balram Das in 16th century, Ramayan By Sridhara in 18th century in Marathi in 18th century, Ranganatha Ramayanam in telgu by Ranganatha in 15th century, Ramayana in kannada by Narahari in 16th century, Assamese poet wrote Kotha ramayana in 14th century by Madhava Kandali, malayalam Ramayana Adhyatma ramayana kalipattu, in 16th century by Thunchaththu Ejhuthachan.

Other than these we have Punjabi Ramayana Ramavatara by Guru Gobind Singh, Kashmiri version Ramavatara chaitra written in 19th century by Prakash ram, Tulsi krita Ramayana, an adoption of Ramacharit manas, adaption of Ranganatha Ramayanam by budha reddy in Telgu, A jain version Kumbudenu Ramayana in Kannada a literature of 13 th century, Kumara valmiki torve Ramayana in Kannada a literature of 16 th century, Ramachanda Charita purana of 13 th century by Nagachandra, Pothi Ramayana of urdu language of 17th century.

Non Indian virsions:

Turkish Ramayana called Kothani Ramayana and Tibetian Ramayana without any Buddhist influence. Other than these the is a research journal in Chinese by a Chinese traveler called Journey to the west.

Other than these we have innumerable number of versions still in Sanskrit by Kalidasa, bhasa etc as well as in other languages.

Why Ramsethu should not be destroyed:

  • First of all its a national monument; Probably the oldest national monument available. It is a relic of of highest important chapter of native Indian civilization.
  • It should not be destroyed for the same reason why Taj mahal, kutub minar, char minar, gateway of India …. etc cannot be destroyed.
  • It also cannot be destroyed for the same reason why monuments like, golden gate bridge, london pridge, Pisa tower, pyramids, statue of liberty ….. etc around the world cannot be destroyed.
  • Doesn’t matter if anyone wants to believe it or not. Native Indian community doesn’t have to prove their historicity to anyone. Doesn’t matter if its proved or not, no one is authorized to deny or question the authenticity of native Indian relics, history, culture, tradition and existence of native indian civilization in India.
  • Ram Setu symbolizes the bridge between faith and a logical, scientific and rational understanding of India , its legends and beyond.

Analogy of idiocracy:

10,000 from now Mount Rushmore might look really old and would probably somewhat unclear. how does it sound, if me being immigrant resident in US challenge their monument saying, where is proof that it was man made? where is the proof that so many presidents existed who looked exactly like that? No thats a natural rock formations and not man made. wouldn’t I look like a … whatever? If at all some of native Americans did support me, how would they look like?

Point today:

I am sure none of us have even six of our ancestors name, so when we have names of more than sixty rulers, does any one need more proof of existence of King Rama? Read ‘Ramayana’. And who knows we might come up with the descendant of Rama someone amongst us, upon making DNA match?

Truly speaking its not about proving the historicity of our ancient ruler Ram, but its all about disproving it for some ulterior motive and is a part of some master minded game probably for the same reason why the fake Aryan invasion theory was planted. However upon disproving it the question was put onto immediate previous civilization ( around time of mahabharata) upon proving which question mark being put onto civilization previous to that. Its probably upon the intolerance of the fact that such an old civilization did exist in that part and authenticity of which proves the ignorance of rest. India being the land of affluence and rich culture attracted and bothered people around. So there has been many effort to make them feel inferior and make them disbelieve in their own traditions, science, culture and way of life. But hey no one ever kicks a dead dog huh?

Native Indian civilization which is called ‘Sanatana Dharma’ in native Indian language has been giving refuge to invaders from the time unknown, many neighboring counties are proof of the same. Most consistent, most tolerant most large hearted, now sounding like little coward to let its glory go with the whirlpool of so called modern generation.

I hope the information provided above does help as a ray of dawn to those native civilians who were deprived of the knowledge of glory of their origin and their past.

Note: Because of time and space constraint it has not been possible for me to complete this article with the kind of contents I actually intended to complete it with. My efforts to do so left me in maelstrom of depth of the subject, For India is not merely a geographical area, but a state of mind.

Iraq-A blunder

Today, While I was talking to my friend,we happened to have an argument over Iraq war issue. We both though were trying to get at something very similar, we had an argument about whether its appropriate to get out of Iraq or is it appropriate to stay there and settle things no matter even if it is for 100 years.

Quick glance on whats actually Iraq war?

Iraq war is supposedly operation Iraqi freedom began with the invasion of US and allied forces into Iraq in late march of 2007. Though there were countries like India, China etc etc opposing this war, there were also countries like Australia, UK who were prime allies of war. All though legality and rationality of invasion of US allied forces into Iraq is widely debated world wide and with in US, its proposed principal rationale was operation against possession of WMD( Weapons of mass destruction) in violation of 1991 agreement by Iraq. However upon invasion it was discovered by weapons inspectors that Iraq had suspended its WMD program back in 1991. Although some earlier degraded remnants of abandoned WMD were found they were not the weapons for which the coalition invaded in to that territory. Furthermore claims were made about Saddam’s coalition with Al Qaeda but no proof of any kind of association has been found till date. Later efforts of diverting reasons of invasion towards Saddam’s hand in 9/11, Saddam’s support for Palestine suicide bombers, Iraqi people’s human right violation etc went futile.

Scape Goat!?

All though the invasion into Iraq was collective decision later President Bush has been made a scape goat by holding him alone responsible for new born asymmetric warfare with civil war, Shia Sunni violence, Iraqi insurgency and of course opportunistic foreign and inland militant operations. That is not it. It engendered death of more than million people, left innumerable homeless, innumerable children homeless, parent less, shelter less, food less and I think list goes on. Nevertheless that was a total screw up and that not being sufficient it procreated difference of opinions and escapism.

My point was, What is more important? getting the begotten problem solved or maligning one another? This question used to spawn in my mind few years back. Recently sired question was whether it is appropriate to get out of Iraq immediately?

I used to find it really humorous, when ever I heard candidates saying I want to get our troops back. Definitely they need to come back, but what will be the outcome of this premature withdrawal? Let me comeback to this later.

Whats happening in Iraq?

Fights between Shea and Sunni, militant insurgency, foreign fueling for militant operations, other than all this, there is also a struggle for existence by a common man. Need of food and shelter and struggle to get these can make this common man any time fall into farmer categories. Even after this struggle for food and basic things is over it can leave generations of people without education and work and that can give rise to another Afghanistan. And need may spur up to have to send in more troops to that place some time soon because of this premature withdrawal from Iraq.

Hmm and I am sure neither, McCain, nor Clinton nor Obama would let this happen. Even though democrats are putting that point forward of bringing troops home very soon, and McCain claiming to sty there for 100 years doesn’t anybody know, no matter who gets into oval office, getting out of Iraq would be of around same time :-)? So Iraq isn’t even a point of discussion out there. Democrats meant immediate withdrawal and McCain 100 years are conceit statements. Aren’t they?

Here are few clips about how we argued :-)

(F) is what my friend

(I) is what I said

argument was being made,( F)its not possible to stay there for 100 years like Mccain says (I)and neither is it possible to get out immediately, (F) Yeah its not possible, So its time Iraq should take care of itself, nobody is getting out immediately. (I)Hmm that’s sad, wasn’t Iraq taking care of itself? Now after invading a country that was settled for centuries and making it flat, how can we expect them to manage all by themselves so soon? Hmm they are not able to manage all by themselves aid needs to be flown from here (F)so its your money and its my money.(I) I know its Your money and Its my money, but can we suck blood out of those homeless people to save my money and your money.(F) Yeah we cannot expect, but we cannot look after them for ever. Make them learn look after themselves.

So point tonight is

That’s right. Make them look after themselves, make sure they are capable of doing that , then get out of Iraq with troops to avoid sending in more troops sometime soon and avoid that becoming another Afghanistan. What do you say?

Couldn’t it be possible that KGB moved WMD’S even before invasion? ;_) . He is searching for them.

Psychic or Psychologic?

I have been writing my blogs for a while and initially I kept it completely to myself and didn’t disclose it to anybody. I was extremely shy to disclose it to anybody. Then it took quite a while to overcome little bit of shyness and I also started getting a feeling that the whole purpose of writing blog article is failing. However it still took more time to overcome that shyness. For a long time although I revealed that I have been writing, I didn’t disclose the link; However after quite an effort and battle with my shyness I slowly started giving out my blog link to few people. However I was quite apprehensive about giving it out to mass, so I started with a safe crowd. I first gave it to very unknown people, where I thought the comments I get wouldn’t be important for me :-). Though positive comments made me feel good about it.After a while my confidence grew and I slowly started giving out my blog link; I really find it difficult to express exactly the way I feel it, Still let me try this way. I was absolutely accurate about the way I expected each and everyone to respond about it. Hmm that makes me a good psychologist. One of my dearest and nearest friend, Tanmayi after seeing my blog articles said, your articles look very good to me, she also said that I have exceeded her expectations. I expected around same kind of reaction from her and it helped me more to grow out of shyness. I gave it out to my blog friend Veenu, who as promised read it and commented according to her feelings at her leisure, which was exactly the same thing I expected about her. Then I disclosed it to my very close set of confidant family members and relatives with whom I was quite comfortable and trusted that I wouldn’t be made fun of, amongst them I expected few of them to read and appreciate it and I expected some of them not to read it at all. I was absolutely accurate about this too. Wow, Then I gave it out to few of my friends, whom I know only for last three to four years. Though I didn’t share very deep childhood friendship with them, I liked them for their personality and I was quite sure of they appreciating the views and topics I have brought up in my articles and received very positive responses out of them as expected as soon as I disclosed it to them. Hmm, Then I disclosed it to few of my childhood friends amongst whom I expected three of them not to respond at all, two of them to respond with very much positivity and one of them to respond as a no big deal and one of them to be taking little interest. I have no words to explain it how accurate I was in predicting it. :-), that makes me one hell of a mind reader, but I have failed to understand whether it was psychic power or psychological power that made me understand it? OOhh I don’t want to be psychic :-(. I better be psychological.

My friend Tanu says, scorpions are very good mind readers. Hmm But one thing is sure, I have always read people very very accurately, Its of course all together a different story that I ignored my own inner voices for the outer glitter of few people and some time other people’s opinion took upper hand over mine at times, but at some point or the other I always was proved right about impressions i formed. However I fail to understand men completely. for that one needs to be psychic I feel….. What say?

Noviy Svet- Meaning new light. So Lets have a look at new light

Few days back I was watching something on a History channel, and I happened to see this picture of earth.

earth1.jpg

White lines indicate the sun light falling on one face of earth illuminating it, and thus other face of earth is not illuminated as there are no light rays falling on that face. But we can see light are rays passing tangentially and also beyond that. So then a thought came to my mind, why cant these lights really illuminate the dark face of the earth, so that there wont be a night at all.

sol1.jpg

The intent of the picture above is to show the size of the earth compared to sun. So then coming back to the idea that I felt, I tried finding out if it could be done? Well light could very well be reflected, if you have a reflector out there.

Thats right, in the pre-dawn dusk of early 1993 inexplicable spot light of 65 meter diameter wandered around in some parts of Europe for eight to 10 minutes and disappeared leaving intellectuals bewildered and UFO hunters motivated. It was confused for UFO and a falling star, but it was none, it was an ambitious soviet space endeavor.

The Spot light was made to fall by unfurling a giant plastic and aluminum mirror of 65 feet in diameter on third orbit around the planet at an altitude of about 225 miles . The mirror was made to tilt to reflect sunlight on the parts of planet where it was actually night. The light said to have had the intensity of three moons only, and the first test of new space endeavor was successful. Though idea of using mirrors in space to reflect sunlight was earlier said to have proposed by German scientist Herman Oberth in 1920’s, this was the first time it was ever tested.

The objective of space mirror was to replace electricity and thus associated problems like pollution, the cost of electricity too. Proponents also said to have had claimed that extended daylight hours nights cal help farmers for planting and for harvesting seasons and help rescue crews going after a natural disasters. Mostly sub-Arctic population can be befitted with the following project. But it was also speculated that people might not like his change as they have adapted to the natural cycle of the region.

However it was also suggested that Illumination of this type could be hazardous to environment such as extra warming of environment. It was suggested by astronomers that it could cause light pollution thus depreciating the natural glow of stars and celestial particles. many scientists also say that it could be interruption for those animal and plant life pasterns which exhibit photoperiodism (is the physiological reaction of organisms of both plants and animals to the length of day or night). Scientists say that altering of these day-night cycles might upset the cycle of hibernating and mating amongst animals and life process of plants. Though proponents of the the project say that there is no evidence justifying the statement that reflected sunlight could be hazardous to the atmosphere, they suggest for environmental studies following the same.

However most fascinating application of the giant space mirror could have been as suggested by scientiss was using this beam of sunlight produced by space mirror to nudge an asteroid on a collision course with Earth. They say that the ray could be used to vaporize enough of the asteroid’s surface to create a jet of gas and dust and slowly shove it aside over a period.

The project involved using a space shuttle to place a collapsible, aluminum-coated sheet of Mylar in orbit around Earth. Then unfurling into a concave sail-like mirror up to six miles in diameter.

Technical hurdles, like developing a pointing system that can keep a spot of light trained on a specific area of the ground as the reflector travels through space at almost 18,000 miles an hour made it difficult to achieve, scientist proponents hoped to make it work.

However an effort to make this test more successful and next attempt were called off after multiple attempts to unfold a umbrella like mirror by Mir space station was failed later in the decade.

Not many people think it was great idea and need not be tried again, what do you think?

A little glance on position of Indian women in ancient India

Few years back, I happen to argue with my father, I said women are equal to men, then my father laughed and said, you are so stupid, why are you up to be equal when you have been given a higher position. Yeah that’s right, in India at least women were given a very high position in society. Women were given a very very respectable position in the early vedic society in India and they are said to have occupied a very important and superior position to men. It is made more evident from the fact that in India and only in India we have a practice of worshiping goddesses. Great literatures of India Ramayana and Mahabharata exemplify the importance of women in ancient India. Ravana and Lanka were destroyed and war of Kurukshetra took place only because a single women in each case were wronged. Giving another example, current day Madurai, a place in TamilNadu, was a capital city of Pandyas. It was burnt entirely by lady Kannaki, because king killed her husband on baseless and wrong theft charges. They had equal contribution in producing the longest living oldest available literature The hymns of Rigveda and samaveda. However position of Indian woman is widely dependent on the time and context. Position of Indian women said to have deteriorated in the late vedic period.

While Indian subcontinent has seen a women being worshiped as a goddess till female infanticide including, dowry deaths, and joint departure system of wife along with her dead husband. Abject helplessness couldn’t get abysmal. So here they go ‘Todays Woman’. I can say this article is all about rise fall and rise of Indian woman or may be a woman. We have this wrong concept that women are being exploited only in India, its not true, and the evidence for the same is international Women’s day.

How was International Women’s day started?

Well international women’s day has been observed since early 1900s and its said to have started as a political event in USA in 1909.. Another source said, it started as a retaliation for women’s oppression and inequality in 1908 in USA. I remember a scene from movie Yentl, in which, The narration of story begins with the line, In the time when the story belonged only to the men.. A young beautiful woman surfing through the open air market in early twentieth century in the country Poland, she listens to book seller saying, story book for women, sacred books for men, picture books for women and sacred books for men. Upon trying to buy the sacred book, she is refused by the book seller, then she buys it by lying to him that she is buying it for her father. It was not so long ago that women were not even allowed to read sacred books in the country which we consider very progressive today. How ever international Women’s day is a celebration of journey of achievements from not being able to join union, political party, get degree, hold driver’s license, library card, work outside, vote, etc to being an independent, corporate woman and a presidential candidate in USA. So there we go, looking at this we Indian women, should know that, it wasn’t this worse in India during those times and neither is it today. History of women being empowered into higher positions goes back to days as old as vedic period.

In spite of having such a glorious past and having survived major invasions, India is still known to be poor, backward country where women are treated very badly. Which is very true to a great extent. Islamic rule in North India is a major contributor to a sharp decline in the status of women, Jauhar started as self protection by Rajput Women to protect themselves against physical and mental abuse after captivity by Muslim emperors. Sahagaman came as a self protection by a women to restrain herself from being abused after her husband’s death continued to become a social norm and a disease that kept torturing women for ages. Purdah system( hiding face under a veil) to segregate women in Islamic culture , dowry system started as a loving rituals by brides father gave birth to female infanticide . The saga talks of rituals started as self protection and loving action turning towards self destruction.

Rationalizing the issues: Starting with female infanticide, prompted by the existence of a dowry system which requires parents of the bride to pay huge amount of money to the groom at the time of marriage. For the poor family its not possible and hence birth of a girl child is a beginning of their hardship. They cannot be blamed at all. Looking at that infrastructure, already tormented by poverty , they are struggling hard to attain two meals everyday, impossible to pay lumsome in dowry, Looking at the issues intertwined into this, because of this dowry system, people get into the heinous crime of infanticide. If at all they give birth to the child, they are not given as much importance as her brothers and she wont be given the same amount of education. Looking from their point of view who have male child, they don’t spare any effort in swindling from girl’s parents. Same girl when gives birth to a child, how can we expect her to act so differently from what she herself went through? This lack of education, doesn’t let them outgrow from this treacherous system and they are stuck into this perpetual cycle. However it is not restricted to poorer family, even the most educated middle class and upper middle class is not restrained from this abject sense of prestige of having male children. Sometime back I happened to talk to a woman, who belonged to upper middle class, very well educated, whose sons and daughters are well educated and well settled said, what ever it is, prestige of having first baby a male one is very magnificent. I tried rationalizing this part, though these middle and upper middle class people have not stooped to the level of infanticide because of wealth and education they have, they are forced to think that, having male child is a issue of prestige for following reasons. In our society, when a marriage takes place, girls goes to in laws place to live. Even if girl is living with her husband in a third place, girl’s parents don’t have the same amount of freeness to goto their daughter’s house as parents of groom, in most cases. There are exceptions of course, in fact quite a few exceptions. So while bringing up being educated and civilized these parents give equal education to their daughters, but they are left with only sons to look after them in their old age. I stared to know these issues very recently, because it was entirely different in my family when I grew up. Though I had few glances over few trivial issues, I didn’t bother myself much as I was given as much importance as of my brother. Before i get diverted, let me make point.

Point today is,

Its entirely dependent of women being educated, independent and self sufficient and todays women are all of the above. They are everywhere, politics, corporate world, defense, art and architecture , … list goes on and of course a home maker And I really don’t think its a big deal. They naturally could be all these, its just that, they were restrained from this for a while by others and by themselves.

I feel

Woman, A nature’s most precious gift, valley of affection, ocean of love, sign of wisdom, synonym of patience…..!!

I wanted to share something I always thought, and got to read that someone else also think the same way( can’t recollect where). Why should (Indian) women be under the responsibility of father when they are girls, responsibility of husband when they are young and responsibility of son when they are old? They should rather be maker and master of their own destiny.

Some time back, I was with a pregnant woman, her mother was around to look after and pamper her. Mother was extremely protective about pregnant daughter and she was instructing her daughter about do’s and dont’s for every action. Fair enough, thats what she is here for and its her duty . At the same time, while protecting her daughter, she wanted to cook something nice for her daughter as daughter started feeling hungry and daughter also started getting some food cravings. So here is mom to cook anything and everything thats required. B cos it was winter and there was no groceries at home all mom could find at home was eggs. Soon she took few eggs and started making omelette. not even for a fraction of millisecond it occurred to her or her daughter that it was, chicken’s pregnancy that she was going to kill to feed her own child. I know its hard and hardly comes to mind. But the truth is it is pregnancy of some other animal and pestilent truth is we are killing another females pregnancy.

When our daughters, wives, sisters, friends or any woman around us is a pregnant, we extend all possible courtesy to make her extra comfortable in the situation. Why is it different for chicken? Why is it different for female animal? I think its inhuman to be so insensitive to that little life. Forget egg , I know many of us don’t think it is inhuman to kill a full grown living animal to feed themselves. . On the contrary they think, animals have been created by the creator so that man could eat them. Such a cliche. I was only 11 years old, then I was studying in st Mary’s convent school. My teacher started a discussion and there were only two pure veggies in our entire class, me and my closest friend Sana. When we raised our hands when asked for any veggies here, she said very coolly, you should eat it, thats the reason why animals have been created. Then I and my friend looked at each other and while heading homeward we both discussed and said, look at the way she is trying justify her action. Then we thought she made it up to justify she eating meat. Then realized gradually over the years, that she and everyone actually believe that animals have been created so that man could eat them and I thought that it was their ignorance or may be innocence. But now I have realized that it neither innocence, nor ignorance, its homo sapian’s ego or may be alter ego. Such a anti cliche.

Some time back I happened to argue with a lady, who got furious on me, b cos I said its an inhuman act and we shouldn’t kill those innocent animals, using the brain and power that we have been blessed with, rather we should protect those innocent animals. Lady first of all laughed satirically at me and said we cannot think of animals you are thinking like fool. She was also infuriated b cos her husband and many of her kins were non vegetarians. So she thought it was not bad. I know, most of the people would agree with that woman for the opinion. But you know what, just b cos we and our kins are doing it, doesn’t make it a fair action. Mahatma Gandhi did it even then it was wrong, as admitted by himself.

To my mind, the life of a lamb is no less precious than that of a human being.I should be unwilling to take the life of a lamb for the sake of the human body.
    Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi

Little glance on high school science: Though there have been many forms of diets, it is broadly classified into two types.

    • Carnivorous
    • herbivorous

Carnivorous: Living beings whose basic diet is meat are called carnivorous.[ Word existed from Latin, carne meaning meat or flesh and vorare meaning devour( devour meaning eat greedily or hungrily)].

herbivorous: Living beings whose basic diet is plant are called herbivorous.

Basic biological difference can be seen in the following factors:

    tooth evolution:

    • Carnivorous animals have long sharp canine tooth which are for hunting their food and hold prey. where as
    • herbivorous animals have short and blunted canine tooth.
    • Carnivorous animals have sharp, jagged and blade shaped molar tooth where as
    • herbivorous animals have flattened molar tooth
    • Carnivorous animals have pointed incisor tooth where as
    • herbivorous animals have flat and broadened incisors.

Discussed factors are to state that anatomy of man is not designed to hunt animals. Biologically granted physic of human being is not capable of hunting animals and subduing prey for his food.

    • Carnivorous animals have sharp claws which again serve similar purpose as natural carnivorous tooth. and
    • herbivorous animals have flattened nails.

    Digestive System

    • Carnivorous animals have have long pipe like intestinal tract without bulges and pouches thus helping meat to pass quickly. Where as
    • herbivorous animals have windy bumpy intestinal tract with pockets which obstruct the meat.
    • Carnivorous animals stomach and saliva are more acidic and
    • herbivorous stomach and saliva are more alkaline which is more suitable for digestion of plant based food.

Other than above stated factors there are many like, cholesterol tolerance, fiber requirement for digestion etc, which can be discussed and arrived at the conclusion that homo sapians ( man) are herbivorous.

    So point today is

Homo sapian is not a carnivorous animal. because

He is not equipped with any of the features (sharp molar, canine and incisors, claws etc) that are required to subdue and hold prey, Carnivorous are equipped and as we can see, carnivorous animals dont eat anything other than meat. That reminds me of dialog “share shikar ke bina mar jayega lekin ghas nahi khayega” meaning tiger doesn’t eat grass even after staying hungry without meat.

So homo sapian is neither a biologically born carnivorous nor is this practice good, but its inhuman.

Apart from what I have discussed above living being are classified into one more category namely omnivorous animals, which are supposedly be eating both meat and plant opportunistically. Its being argued that man can be omnivorous. Famous examples for omnivorous can be crow, cat, dog etc. But still human biology doesn’t match omnivorous animals either, omnivorous biology, like tooth, digestive system, claws jaws etc resemble carnivorous.

That makes me think , I wounder how many of non vegetarians would have depended upon meat or would have still preferred eating meat if they had to find, hunt, kill and hold the prey for their own food instead of getting them ready? I

small recommendation for those, who eat mean because they are not able to find sufficient protein in vegetarian food, we have red kidney beans, which are very rich in protein. Apart from chick peas, toor dal.
